District heating was replaced by geothermal, and the automation and ventilation were modernised and a cooling system was built using geothermal energy. Four 325-metre-deep energy wells were drilled in the courtyard of the function house in Helsinki&#8217;s city centre, providing heat to keep the building warm in winter and cool in summer. The cooling system charges the geothermal wells for the winter, further improving the efficiency of geothermal heating.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The Scouts&#8217; goal was to make the Scout station carbon neutral. With the energy renovation, the goals were met. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;It should not be underestimated that this investment makes sense from an economic point of view. The money saved on the energy bill can be used for other scouting activities,&#8221; says <strong>Panu R\u00e4s\u00e4nen<\/strong>, CFO of the Finnish Scouts. Thanks to the renovation, energy costs have been halved and savings amount to more than \u20ac15 000 annually.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In particular, the modernisation of ventilation and cooling has had an impact on the comfort and working conditions of employees.<\/p>\n\n<p>The patrol station was built in the 1930s and has four floors.
