This block of flats, located in Meilahti, Helsinki, underwent a complete energy overhaul: the heating system in the building was changed from district heating to geothermal heating, the main electrical fuse box was renewed, and a radiant cooling network was installed which can be used to cool the apartments on hot days. The building services technology was also updated to modern standards.
The project was the first in Finland for LeaseGreen’s and OP’s Energiaremontti service. The changes saved the housing company up to 12 000 euro in energy costs per year, and the carbon footprint from heating was reduced by about 60 per cent.
